Tengo que confesar que a veces da un poco de miedo esto de lanzarse al mundo empresarial, pero qué leches, en realidad es algo que siempre he querido hacer. Solo me toca esperar a ver cuál es el resultado, pero ya de entrada anuncio que lo pondré todo de mi parte para que salga adelante.

Espero que disfrutéis de lo que hago, tanto a nivel personal como profesional, de mis obras y de las obras ajenas que intentaré publicar en Neodragon junto con el resto de mi equipo, el cual, también hay que decirlo, va creciendo poquito a poco. Hola a todos!

Mañana me iré a las Américas!! Concretamente a Chicago y a Toronto, y por fin voy a poder conocer a mis compañeros de curro! Así que seguramente estaré ausente la semana que viene, pero volveré el domingo 17.

Y por cierto, Neodragon sigue en pie, lentamente pero ahí va. Espero poder empezar antes de 2 meses (aunque aún así, por desgracia, no creo que vaya a poder debutar en el Expomanga, al final tendré que pillar un stand no comercial para vender mis dragones, como siempre). La página web también está en desarrollo, en la cual ya podéis ver cuáles son los cómics que, en un principio, saldrán primero ---> [link] . Hay muy poco en la página todavía, pero en cuanto la cosa empiece a arrancar de verdad, estará más completa. Y otra cosa, para quienes todavía me preguntan por mi manga a color Don't Fear the Reaper, han de saber que, después de muuucho tiempo, lo he retomado y tengo la intención de publicarlo yo mismo en Neodragon.

Helloooo everybody!!

I'd like to tell you something I've been working on the last months. A few people know about this, but now I'd like everybody to know it: Me and a friend are going to make a company!!

It's going to be a publishing company, focused on comics (and manga, of course!), but we are also going to release some other products like artbooks, tutorial books, even novels and I personally want to release dragon related stuff. We are almost ready to take off to the corporate world, we just have to do some legal stuff yet, but you'll have news about us really soon. We are planning to sell our products via online to any country, not only in Spain, but all will come in due course, little by little.

There's something that still worries us a little bit, and it's the name of the company. Me and my friend are discussing how the company should be named. We have 2 options:

NeoDragon: easy to remember, easy to make a logo and a mascot, everybody loves dragons easy to pronounce in any language, but it doesn't sound serious for a company in our opinion, it could fit better with a dragon fan forum...

Next Comics: easy to remember, sounds cool and professional, but difficult to associate with any mascot and logo designs, and we are surely not going to publish just comics, but more stuff (next.com is not available, so we can't name it that way).

So I'd like you to help us to name our company. The last word is going to be ours, of course, but it's interesting to know what people think about it . I'm going to open a poll to see which name is more popular.

Normalmente cuando pongo una parrafada en inglés tan larga me da mucha pereza volver a ponerlo en español, pero esta vez es importante. Se trata de algo que un amigo y yo nos traemos entre manos desde hace algún tiempo, un secreto que pocas personas han sabido hasta ahora y que hoy voy a revelar: Vamos a formar empresa!!

Pues sí, vamos a montarnos una empresa editorial, de comics fundamentalmente, aunque pensamos incluir otros productos como artbooks, libros de tutoriales y posiblemente también novelas, y por mi parte, cosas relacionadas con dragones, por supuesto. La situación en España es difícil, como muchos sabéis, pero igualmente queremos intentarlo. Tenemos ya muchas cosas atadas y nos falta solucionar algunos asuntillos legales, pero ya estamos cerca de saltar al mundo empresarial.

Pero hay una cosa que nos preocupa, algo en lo que no nos terminamos de decidir, y es el nombre de la empresa. Podríamos echar el nombre a suertes pero me ha parecido interesante ver qué opinión tiene la gente, así que voy a abrir una poll para que podáis votar qué nombre os gustaría más, y si es posible, por qué. Los nombres entre los que nos debatimos son los siguientes:

NeoDragon: sería una referencia a mi socio (Neo) y a mi (algunos ya me llaman el chico de los dragones), y puesto que tanto la mascota y el logo serían un dragón, el nombre pega bastante bien, y es fácil de recordar y pronunciar en cualquier idioma. La única pega que se nos presenta es que no nos parece un nombre serio para una empresa (lo mismo son paranoias nuestras...), sino más para un foro de fans de los dragones o algo.

Next Comics: es un nombre bastante random, suena bastante profesional y es atractivo, y también es fácil de recordar y pronunciar. Lo malo es que tanto el logo como la mascota no serían tan representativos, y no solo vamos a sacar comics, sino más cosas (Next.com ya está pillado, y Next-ediciones.com ... ediciones es una palabra española, no nos viene bien si queremos darnos a conocer fuera de España, queremos tener un nombre más internacional).

Bueno, lo que me gustaría que hicieseis es votar en la poll que abriré en breve, simplemente votar qué nombre os gusta más. Nosotros seremos los que tengamos la última palabra, claro , pero es interesante saber la opinión del público.

Resulta que un amigo mío está financiándose una novela a traves de crowdfounding en Verkami para poder publicársela. Os la dejo aquí:

Como muchos sabéis (y si no lo sabéis os lo explico) el crowdfounding consiste en publicar un proyecto para el cual quieres conseguir dinero para poder publicarlo dejando que sea la gente quien lo financie con donaciones. Por supuesto, nadie dona nada así de gratis por amor al arte, y es por eso que los que donan tienen derecho a una recompensa, que suele ser normalmente un ejemplar de la novela entre otras cosas interesantes, dependiendo de lo que dones. La donación es completamente segura, y no pasa al autor directamente, sino que se queda "en el aire", dependiendo si el crowdfounding tiene éxito y la obra sale adelante o no (en cuyo caso el dinero es devuelto a los donantes sin problema, pero claro, no hay recompensa ni hay ná). Es un interesante sistema de financiación en la que todos salen ganando .

Joer, cuánto tiempo sin escribir. No no, sigo vivo todavía, por supuesto! Y para deciros que estaré presente en la Japan Weekend que se va a celebrar en Madrid los días 9 y 10 de febrero, en el Pabellón de Convenciones de la Casa de Campo. Como siempre, venderé mis posters habituales en formatos A3 y A4, a 4 y 2 euros respectivamente. Por eso mismo, si alguien quiere un poster epecífico, que me lo diga y se lo reservo para que pueda venir a recogerlo al evento.

Since some time ago, I've been thinking of doing an artbook of my pics, full color, self-published and planned to have 80 to 100 pages aprox, with my DA illustrations, and even tutorials, but I don't exactly know if that would be a good idea. I was thinking about selling them on anime and comic conventions, and of course, delivering it by normal mail, like many people and companies do. I need you to tell me what do you think about it, and so that, I'll open a poll.

Desde hace algún tiempo me estoy planteando sacar un artbook de mis ilustraciones, a todo color, autopublicado y pensado para que tenga de 80 a 100 páginas, con mis ilustraciones de DeviantArt (y otras) e incluso tutoriales. Esto llevaría tiempo, esfuerzo y dinero, y no estoy muy seguro de si es una buena idea y si se vendería bien, por eso necesito vuestra opinión. Umm, yes, it seems that I'm here again finally! And as I promised at the end of last year... I'm already able to make 3D dragons!! (oh, did someone actually care about that promise? XD). But anyway, after 5 months learning 3Dmax and Zbrush in a master, this is what I managed to do:

  

Some people have asked me whether it's difficult to model in 3D or not. Well, the most difficult part is the 3D program itself, with many many options, tools and menus. But when you know how to work on it, it's really funny, specially Zbrush, I love that program, it's like modeling on clay, but with your tablet XD. If you dare to open the program and face with a legion of buttons and options, try to do something

Os comunico que el finde semana que viene (días 11 y 12 de febrero) se celebrará en Madrid otra edición de la Japan Weekend, y como siempre, yo estaré allí, en un stand vendiendo mis posters, dragones a tutiplén y algún ke otro dibujo manga (antes solía ser al revés, pero últimamente los dragones han invadido mi galería XD). En fin, como siempre, me gustaría que me dijeseis quiénes vais a ir (al menos para vernos por allí y charlar un rato XD), y también que, si queréis alguno de mis dibujos en particular, que me lo pidáis por adelantado, y ya os lo doy el día del evento. I hope you enjoyed yesterday night . And I hope this coming year is better than the previous one for you!. In my case, 2011 has been a great year, I've found a job I really like, I won a contest of a manga convention in Madrid, I finished my degree, my dragons are crushing between my deviant followers (I'm really glad you like them, seriously) and my summer was... enviable. Yes, I've been lucky, really lucky... and that's why I fear the new year a little bit. Every cloud has a silver lining, it's said. And maybe this year I have to face some risks and challenges, and some of them in my personal sphere...

Aaaaanyway, there's another thing I'd like to say. I'm doing a master about Zbrush, a program for artistic 3D (search it in google XD). So, probably this year we are going to have here some realistic 3D dragons . And I'll keep doing my dragon pics with Photoshop, of course, hehe.

Bueno, espero que hayáis disfrutado la noche de ayer, jejejeje. Y también espero que este nuevo año sea mejor que el anterior para todos. En mi caso no puedo quejarme de 2011, he encontrado un trabajo que me encanta, gané el concurso del cartel del Expomanga, he terminado mi carrera, mis dragones están arrasando entre mis seguidores de Deviantart (me alegro de que os gusten, en serio!), y mis vacaciones de verano han sido envidiables. Sí, me ha ido de lujo, realmente bien... Y por eso es por lo que temo este año entrante. Dicen que no hay mal que por bien no venga, y no creo que me merezca otro año tan bueno, así que tendré que estar preparado. Este año que empieza hoy ya se me presenta con algunos desafíos que, para bien o para mal, tengo que pasar.

Eeeeeen fin, hay otra cosa de la que quería hablar. Estoy haciendo un master sobre Zbrush, que es un programa de modelado artístico en 3D (buscadlo en google XD), así que posiblemente este año aparezcan por aquí algunos dragones en 3D realistas . Por supuesto, seguiré haciendo mis habituales dibujos, jejeje.

Now the time has come, after these 2 months finally you are going to know who have won the OC contest. Believe me, I've suffered in my decision, I couldn't be able to choose, so I asked for help to some of my friends and artists. I took their opinions, I mixed them with mine, and tadaaa, I got the winners. It's really strange, I'm a digital artist, I love digital drawings, but 2 of the winners are traditional colored pics XD. I chose them because I really like them.

Aaaanyway, leaving this apart, it's time to show you the absolute winner.

I chose it as the absolute winner because of the expression of the character, the amazing traditional colouring and the ghostly atmosphere that fits perfectly with the essence of the story of my manga Crowscare. Besides, I got impressed that, even in another completely different style to mine, it keeps the essence of it. Really, really nice work that deserves, in my opinion, the first place.

But what makes this picture one of my favourites is that he mixed the black and the white muse in just one. I told it at the beginning of the contest, if you impress me somehow, you win. This person has won a 1 month premium membership. Digital art. I have to say that I really had problems to decide the 3th place, but finally I chose this one. It's a very dynamic pic, telling a little story or situation. Yeah guys, we all want to see what would happen in the next scene, you little pervs XDDD. That's what makes this pic special, capable of awake emotions, of course, apart from the obvious eroticism (girls, please forgive me XD). All together with the amazing color, the drawing and the movement that it has make this pic deserve the 3th place.


Now I'd like to mention some drawings that made really difficult my decision, and because of that, they are pics I really like:


by This pic is simply beautiful. I love it because it gives personality to a character that doesn't has it. It just have 4 primary colors, green, red, yellow and black, and they fit masterfully each other.

by An amazing anime screenshot!! In my opinion this is the most original pic of all, and actually I don't know why it didn't get any prize... Lovely, lovely, lovely.

by A simple black and white drawing with a sea of expression. Besides, it's exactly the way my character is. Dark and melancholic. Great!

by This pic was really, really close to achieve the 3th place. Amazing mix of cuteness and color. After a long deliberation, I chose the other one. Kenneos, forgive me



But hey, not only because I've mentioned those pics you have to think I didn't like the rest. It has been really difficult to choose, as I said. ¡Bueno, bueno, bueno, ha llegado el momento! Después de 2 meses de espera por fin tenemos a los ganadores del concurso OC. Creedme, no sabéis la de vueltas que le he dado para elegir a los dibujos vencedores. Algunos amigos míos y artistas me han ayudado en mi decisión, aún teniendo yo la última palabra. Cogí sus opiniones, las mezclé con las mías y ¡Tachaan! ¡Salieron los ganadores! Ha sido realmente extraño, yo soy un dibujante digital y por ello me inclino por el arte digital, pero curiosamente 2 de los premios se los han llevado dibujos tradicionales XD. Me han gustado mucho.

En fin, después de todo este rollo, ¡¡ahora sí que ha llegado el momento de anunciar al ganador absoluto!!


Y EL GANADOR ES...

Esta persona se ha ganado la Permium Membership de un año. Arte tradicional. Lo que me gustó de este dibujo fue la expresión del personaje y un impresionante coloreado tradicional, todo ello unido a un sobrecogedor ambiente tétrico y fantasmal que se ajusta perfectamente al personaje original de mi manga Crowscare. Además, lo que más me impactó fue el hecho de que el dibujo, a pesar de estar hecho en un estilo completamente distinto al mío, fuera capaz de mantener la más pura esencia del personaje. Impresionante dibujo que se merece, en mi opinión, el primer premio.


SEGUNDO PREMIO PARA

Esta persona se merece la Premium Membership de 3 meses. Arte tradicional. Sencillamente adorable. Me encantan todos esos detalles y el cuidado que ha puesto en cada una de las flores y plumas, y también en el vestido. Pero lo que realmente ha hecho que este dibujo fuera uno de mis favoritos ha sido el hecho de que haya mezclado la musa negra con la musa blanca en el mismo dibujo. Como ya dije al principio del concurso, el que más consiga impresionarme, gana. Y este dibujo de verdad que lo ha conseguido. ¡Buen trabajo!

Esta persona se lleva la Premium Membership de 1 mes. Arte digital. Tengo que decir que tuve bastantes problemas en elegir el tercer puesto, pero finalmente me decanté por este dibujo. La obra rezuma dinamismo, no sólo espacial sino también temporal. Si, tíos, todos tenemos curiosidad por ver qué pasará en la siguiente escena, jejeje. Esto es precisamente lo que hace especial esta obra, aparte del evidente erotismo (chicas, por favor, perdonadme XD). Todo junto con un coloreado genial, el dibujo y el movimiento, hace que se merezca, en mi opinión, el tercer puesto.



Y ahora me gustaría mencionar algunos de los dibujos que han estado a las puertas del Top 3, dibujos que me han dado muchos quebraderos de cabeza intentando elegir los ganadores, y que por ello, merecen una mención especial:


by Este dibujo es precioso. Sobre todo me ha gustado porque le ha dado personalidad a un personaje que, en realidad, no la tiene. Amarillo, verde y negro rematados con unos detalles en rojo. Sencillamente magistral.

by En mi opinión, este es el dibujo más original de todos, ¡un fotograma de Anime! Todavía no estoy seguro de por qué no le he dado un premio a este dibujo. ¡Adorable, adorable y adorable!

by Un sencillo dibujo en blanco y negro que desborda expresividad. Además, refleja perfectamente la personalidad de mi personaje. Oscuro y melancólico. Muy buen trabajo.

by Este dibujo estuvo muy muy cerca de llevarse el tercer premio. Una genial mezcla que combina el color con lo adorable. Después de una larga deliberación y comedura de tarro, elegí el otro. Kenneos, perdóname XD.



Bueno, de ninguna manera os vayáis a pensar que, habiendo elegido estos, no me han gustado los demás dibujos. Ha sido muy difícil elegir, como ya he dicho, y realmente aprecio mucho el esfuerzo que habéis puesto en unos personajes que ni siquiera son vuestros. De verdad, ¡muchas gracias! Por cierto, si alguien no está de acuerdo con mi decisión, es libre de decirlo. No va a cambiar nada, pero igualmente me gustará saber su opinión. De nuevo, muchas gracias por vuestra participación. ¡El nivel ha sido alto y los dibujos, geniales! El concurso ya debería estar cerrado, como sabéis, pero como todavía parece que hay gente que no ha entregado, voy a cerrarlo hoy sábado 10 de diciembre a las 23:59 hora española (si no sois de España, echad cuentas XD), y no podré dar más tiempo. Mucha gente ya está esperando a que esto se acabe (y algunos llevan esperando muuucho tiempo).

Por cierto, estoy muy contento con los dibujos que los participantes me están enseñando, va a ser difícil decantarse por los ganadores, jejejeje.

Hi everybody!!

Since some months ago I've been working with a canadian company (Smarteacher) in the development of an online educational RPG game for children. If you take a look at Smarteacher's site [link] you can see some of the pics I've done, and also you can see a photo of mine XDD. I'm doing almost all the graphic environment of the game (characters, backgrounds, items, monsters, interface, etc etc). I got really happy when I saw this vid--->  [link] where, as you can see, the game was tested in a canadian school (the Ridley College). I really loved how the children were enjoying the game with the pics I did for it! I wish I could be there to see it in person...

Btw, the contest finishes in just one week, December 9th, remember it!

Hola a todos!

Desde hace unos meses he estado trabajando como artista para la empresa canadiense Smarteacher en el desarrollo de un juego RPG online educativo para niños. Si le echáis un ojo a la página de Smarteacher [link] podréis ver algunos de los dibujos que he estado haciendo (ya los subiré aquí algún día XD). También hay por ahí una foto mía, como miembro del equipo desarrollador, jejeje. Yo me encargo de casi todo lo referente al aspecto gráfico, es decir, personajes, monstruos, fondos, objetos, botones, interfaz, etc (lo único que no hago son las animaciones, de momento). Me alegré mucho cuando vi este vídeo---> [link] donde, como se puede ver, el equipo de desarrollo está probando el juego en una escuela canadiense (el Ridley College). Es genial ver a todos esos niños disfrutando del juego y de los dibujicos que en él aparecen (obra de un servidor, claro, jajaja). Me hubiese gustado haber podido estar allí para verlo en persona...

Por cierto, que no se os olvide, queda una semana para que acabe el concurso, 9 de diciembre, tenedlo en cuenta!

This is just a reminder. In 2 weeks the contest will finish (December 9, you know). Some of you have already finished your pics and I have to say that I'm really satisfied with them, people are doing their best! Surely I'll fave them when the contest ends!

Pues eso, escribo esto a modo de recordatorio, ya que el concurso terminará en 2 semanas (el viernes 9 de diciembre). Algunos ya habéis terminado el dibujo y tengo que decir que estoy bastante satisfecho con los resultados, la gente está dando lo mejor de sí! Cuando todo esto acabe, me llevaré todos los dibujos a favoritos, sin duda!
